In the Gospel Jesus is called “the carpenter’s son” and in the figure of his putative father – St. Joseph – human activity is raised to man’s duty and perfection, as a salutary exercise of his domain on creation, as service to society, as continuation of the Creator’s work and contribution to the plan for salvation (cf. Gaudium et spes, 34).
Pious XII established in 1955 the feast of St. Joseph the artisan to be the protector to workers and to give a Christian meaning to the Labor Day: in fact, the commemoration of this great Saint takes place in May 1st.
Certain of his powerful intercession, we can ask from the deepest of our heart St. Joseph’s intercession to get a job, for all unemployed people, for those who have suffered injustices and slanders in the workplace.
(To be recited for nine consecutive days from the 10th of March or the 22nd of April).
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, Our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
1) O Saint Joseph, my patron and advocate, I come to you, so that I may obtain the grace which I earnestly ask of you under your gaze. Even though I am a sinner, must I lose hope in obtaining the help of le Lord? “Oh! No!”, would be the answer of your devoted Saint Teresa! “No indeed, O poor sinners. In any need, however great, turn to the efficacious intercession of Saint Joseph the Patriarch; abandon your needs to him in true faith and all your requests will surely be granted”. Therefore, I come to your glorious throne, imploring your goodness: O saint Joseph, assist me as much as you can in my tribulations. Make up for my weakness and grant that having obtained the grace that I ask through your holy and powerful intercession, I may return to your altar to offer you my humble act of thanksgiving. Our Father – Hail Mary – Glory Be
2) Do not forget, O most merciful Saint Joseph that none who has come to you has ever been disappointed in the hope that he has placed in you. Countless are the graces and favours which you have obtained for the afflicted! The sick, oppressed, slandered, betrayed and abandoned souls who have had recourse to your royal protection have had their requests granted. O Saint Joseph, do not allow that I may be the only one to be deprived of your comfort. Show your goodness and generosity also to me, a poor sinner, so that by thanking you, I may exalt the goodness and mercy of the Lord. Our Father – Hail Mary – Glory Be
3) O Saint Joseph, head of the Holy Family, I venerate you profoundly. You have always granted comfort and graces to the afflicted souls who have prayed to you before me. Therefore, in your mercy, console my sorrowful soul, too. O most wise saint, with God’s help, you see all my necessities: you know how much I need the grace that I ask of you. Thus, I place all my hope in your intercession. If you grant me the grace that I ask of you with such insistence, I will strive to spread devotion to you everywhere, and to help and sustain the works which, in your name, bring relief to the suffering and the dying throughout the world. O Saint Joseph, consoler of the afflicted, have mercy on me in my sorrow! Our Father – Hail Mary – Glory Be

Eternal Divine Spirit, through your love for Saint Joseph, who, with infinite care, watched over Mary most Holy, your beloved spouse, have mercy on me. Our Father – Hail Mary – Glory Be
We conclude with the invocations below: O most gracious spouse of Mary and virginal father of Jesus, for the sake of the treasure of your perfect obedience to God, have mercy on me. For the sake of your life full of merits, hear my prayer.
For the sake of your most powerful name, come to my aid.
For the sake of your most merciful heart, graciously hear me. For the sake of your most holy tears, have mercy on me in my weeping. For the sake of your great sorrows, have mercy on me in my weeping.

From all evil of body and soul, deliver me.
Come to my aid with your holy protection and, in your power and mercy, obtain from the Lord all that is necessary for me and, in particular, the grace that I need. Our Father – Hail Mary – Glory Be
